You still can lol

Also you can ask “do you have any mustard?”

And when they say no, you say “well then you’d better ketchup”

Then you do a sick burnout and leave them eating dust

Instructions unclear. I was t-boned and several people, including myself, died.

[–] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 9 points 1 year ago

I'm so sorry for your loss (of yourself)

[–] DarkDarkHouse@lemmy.sdf.org 8 points 1 year ago

Eating dust without mustard. The shame.

For those that don't know - in the UK these two actors also both played the role of the prime minister in two very different series. Paul Eddington was the PM in Yes, Prime Minister. A brilliant comedy about British politics. Ian Richardson was PM in the original version of House of Cards.

Both were absolutely perfect in their respective parts.

Wow that gives some context to a core memory for me. Thanks!

Yes, Minister (starting with series 2) is so so so good. It really said what they wanted to say.

Yes, PM, (to me) never had the same oomph, but Eddington and Hawthorne are so damn charming it keeps you around.

That's true but "The Key" (Season 1 Episode 4) of Yes Prime Minister had me choking with laughter. One of the best episodes of British Sitcom ever.

Pardon me, but...

We can never go back to the way things were.

So that's what that one scene in "Blue Harvest" was referencing.

[–] Oxnvat@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Who said I couldn't today?

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Do you want to get shot? The 90s were a simpler time.

[–] db2@sopuli.xyz 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I hear guns existed back in the Before Times too.

[–] FlyingSquid@lemmy.world 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Yeah, but people are a lot more shooty now.

If you think that's true, I feel like you didn't live through the same 90s I did lol

Carjacking generally doesn't involve someone in one car stealing a second car.

This is the link you were looking for. https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2023/03/20/road-rage-shootings-rising-us-report-finds/11484488002/

That article only goes back to 2018 tho

[–] Decoy321@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Rose tinted glasses, my dude. It also depends on the location. Most places I've lived have gotten A LOT safer in the past 3 decades.

Shootings still happen, though.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.ml 3 points 1 year ago

Someone doesn't remember how ridiculously violent the 90s were.

[–] minorninth@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Violent crime is lower today than the 90’s.

On our trip into downtown Vancouver for our grad party , we had a limo and we were winding down the window the whole trip asking people if they had any gray poupon.

[–] Saneless@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

My great uncle's response:

Yeah, in the tube between my legs!

[–] titus_w_blotter@lemmy.world 7 points 1 year ago

We carried a jar of mustard in the glove box for precisely this purpose. We always hoped someone would ask!

[–] altima_neo@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

It was one of the gags in that family guy precursor pilot.

https://youtu.be/2UcFTDL9V4M?t=2m58s

Fuck that was hilarious back then

[–] Astroturfed@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

That was way more entertaining than anything family guy has put out in 20 years....

[–] CarlsIII@kbin.social -2 points 1 year ago

It’s a shame they made both car windows and mustard illegal
