Tldr about halfway through but there's no word on updating the BIOS on Linux without having a bootable Windows somewhere (dual-boot, external SSD), right?

They've been pretty good about lvfs, though the updates tend to sit in testing for a long time.

I don't know about the 13, but on the 16 you can update via USB, no OS required. Kind of annoying, but it works.

Looks like that applies to all 13" models as well. Their knowledge base does not list a BIOS update for this model yet, but there is a post about it on their forum, and the Linux instructions for that are the same as that of the other Framework models.

I can confirm this. I recently updated the bios for a support request, and I've never had windows installed on it (except for a VM)

I thought they used lvfs? Edit: seems like that's still a work in progress
