Aw man, if it did work like that, I might actually watch the Olympics.

Yeah, a battle royale mode would really do a lot to get the kids interested in the Olympics.

I can get behind paintball as an Olympic sport.

[–] jonne@infosec.pub 8 points 3 months ago

Yeah, as I was typing I was thinking the same, provided they find a way to film it in a way you can tell what's going on.

Holy based sport!

This is so offensive. Everybody dumping on the US for not doing well in the shooting events forgets that when it really matters, the USA comes out on top, not like in these meaningless, staged competitions. In the real world, nobody beats the USA. If those paper targets were an unarmed black women in her kitchen, or an unarmed black child running away, or an unarmed black man with both hands on the steering wheel at a traffic stop, you could bet your ass they'd be headshots.

We need to bring back dueling.

[–] HikingVet@lemmy.ca 5 points 3 months ago

They have fencing, and dueling isn't against the law in Canada ( they removed the prohibition but they will charge you under other laws)

I now can't stop thinking about a particular George Carlin bit about fencing off one of the shittier states and just dropping all the rapists, killers, and drug addicts into it, giving them all weapons, and then filming the resulting carnage.

I remember seeing a documentary about that in the 80s with a guy trying to escape a large city set up to be a maximum security prison. It was called Escape from New York.

They made similar documentary about Los Angeles in the 90s. Interesting stuff.

They need a 3rd one set in Ohio now. They covered the coast lines, where's the insane middle-america prison?

Cleaveland must be a dystopian thing

Look up Cannibal Island,

i mean have you seen most american gun enthusiasts? there's a reason why the "good guy with a gun" thing never works out; because they can't aim for shite.

Wouldn't this basically be paintball?

[–] GluWu@lemm.ee 3 points 3 months ago
[–] pyre@lemmy.world 3 points 3 months ago

yeah but you get marked with your own blood instead of paint.
