I'm considering buying a new thinkpad and possibly changing the battery out for a price up to 550 dollars, but preferably less. I mean to use the device for school and travel and do value battery life most, but prefer some better performance— I will be doing some image editing and video editing. Any recommends?

Edit: Plan to use Endeavour OS

Forgive me if I'm wrong but I think the general recommendation are the refurb t480 or x1 carbons

The T480 is really overpriced for what it is. You can get the newer T14 gen 1, or even a Gen 2 for less than some T480s go for.

I'm currently using a T14 but the gen 3 amd version and it's been going pretty good. I payed $900 or something around there and upgraded my ssd to 2tb. Soldered ram is a bit of a bummer but it is upgradable on the intel version.

I got mine for $129. How is that overpriced?

I paid $200 for a gen 3 AMD T14s earlier this year, and a year earlier paid $200 for my T14 gen 1. The T480 regularly go for around $200 online for a reasonably specced one.

They use to be a lot cheaper, but the supply has dried up, and everyone keeps memeing them so they're going up in price for an almost 6 year old computer.
