Pundits and officials are now calling for measured rhetoric where before they called for violence, endorsed the January 6th coup d'etat, where they still assert a Trump 2020 popular victory, and disparage marginalized groups, suggesting they children and family values the way blood libel was used to disparage Jews.

These pundits and officials have the self awareness of seagulls, if that.

They're just noticing the Sword of Damocles swaying gently in the breeze, possibly for the first time.
