I mostly stopped using it when RIF announced they'd drop support. Deleted my account and everything, although I do still pop into subs that haven't migrated over.

Other than occasional query leading to it at work - i haven't been there at all.

It was very easy for me, though. This is the same environment as the one Inhad found on Google+ when that launched - full of technical geeks. I like that so I stayed.

I've looked at the site but I don't contribute anymore. I've made a few comments telling people to look at another site for answers to their technical questions. Dropping seeds that will branch away from reddit.

The popular sort for Canada increasingly resembles voat. When it was becoming overrun by the far right dog whistles. The signature right wing botted subreddits seem to be a mainstay on the top sorts. That says a lot about how it's going.

I sort of did. I still have an account, but I only use it in the browser and very rarely, from like hourly use to maybe once a week when I can remember.

I deleted my Reddit account (24k karma, I think, about 10 years old?) and went with Lemmy. It's fine, though I miss a couple gaming subs.

Well I kept using it until Infinity died, which was only at the start of this month!

If I do decide to go back, it will be by compiling the infinity APK with my own API key, but I'm not feeling much of an urge to bother at the moment.

Same here, I'm using connect for Lemmy, it has good UI and I only ever scrolled the all or popular page on Infinity

Me, I don't use Reddit just because I purely used Joey and never downloaded the official app.

I left during the blackouts.

[–] 6buck6satan6@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I pop over to reddit maybe 1-2 times a day for a few subs. My daily driver is lemmy though.

[–] sleeperdouge@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

I did not dropped reddit completely, occasionally going in there through google searches but ever since the api fiasco I've never visited the site directly. I still haven't deleted my account but didn't used it since then and is planning to delete it. Lemmy does not have a lot of content and the niche communities compared to reddit. That is not a bad thing though and instead it had stopped me from mindless scrolling I picked up from using reddit.

I still browse Reddit about as much as Lemmy, because many communities haven't taken off here yet.

[–] Yeller_king@reddthat.com 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I did, and I like it over here better. Sometimes I look at a reddit post if it turns up in search, but otherwise I like the culture here better.

I Reddit exclusively on my desktop now, not on mobile where I did most of my browsing. I also pared back my usage to fewer communities.

I use Discuit primarily now, checking Lemmy (Beehaw mostly) very occasionally.

[–] Clipboards@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I lurk but Reddit is completely dead to me. I haven't used it more than once or twice since the API change

I didn't. However, I read Lemmy until I run out of interesting posts, then switch to reddit until the ads make me angry. Then I do something productive.

[–] ChadyzGroove@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I mostly have. However I do not spend anywhere near as much time on Lemmy as I did on reddit. When all the third party stuff started going down I really started to assess how I used the Internet and had to change things. I was using Sync for Reddit on Average 2.5 hours a day which is just insane. Over the course of a decade it was like a year of real time and was really eye opening how much time I was wasting.

Now I set an app timer for Sync for Lemmy for 1 hour a day I rarely hit it.

I do check reddit, but I do not have an app installed, it's mostly to check something specific rather than endlessly scroll.

[–] toyvo@programming.dev 2 points 1 year ago

When the blackout started I deleted sync for reddit and a month ago I heard of lemmy, and now I'm back on sync, but for lemmy this time

[–] Noedel@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 year ago

Recently discovered revanced could patch boost and I'm back on Reddit.

After a few months on just Lemmy, I found too much of the content was about Linux, foss, and how much the internet sucks now.

[–] HipHoboHarold@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I use it for one of the niche communities I usually went to. But other than that, I stopped voting other subs. So much rage bait and bigotry. It's only gotten worse since people started leaving. I just instantly go to the sub I want, check out some posts, which sometimes only take about a minute, and then leave.

[–] miffmaff@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I dropped reddit on mobile, but on desktop i still use it from time to time. Although i was never really a heavy user to begin with.

[–] quack@discuss.online 2 points 1 year ago

I use Lemmy to browse, and Reddit for search. E.g. If I want to checkout general online stuff people are discussing/sharing this is the place. If I want to look up frying pan recommendations I google "reddit le creuset"

[–] youpie@lemmy.emphisia.nl 2 points 1 year ago

i only use Reddit for technical questions on communities that don't exist on Lemmy or are inactive. I'm not using Reddit anymore for browsing but I'm not gonna artificially limit myself from that great resource for some performative activism

[–] merak7@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I am read ~70% lemmy vs 30% reddit. In my opinion this is because community is important. And reddit-community still be a big and active 🤷🏻‍♂️

[–] Ichiro_kun@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I did. 💀

[–] kalistia@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 year ago

I did that too and don't regret it ;)
