MODERATORS

These threads used to be really useful back on Reddit.

I'm currently finishing off full app translations for the next release along with lots of the usual bug fixes.

What should I prioritise next?

Cheers, Lj

How feasible would it be to create toggle-able filters. e.g. I could toggle a sports team community when I haven't seen the result of a game.

posted before maybe:

  • filters with a timeout (filters that disappear after a while). The filter might remain in a list of filters and can be reset again (or gets deleted after timeout). This would be a middle ground between blocking certain things completely and not at all.

  • weighing of certain communities. A weight of 0 would be the same as blocking. A weight of 1 doesn't change anything. A Weight of 0.5 would multiply the upvotes of posts by 0.5 in order to change its position on the frontpage. ( I am not sure how exactly the rank is determined, but weighing certain meme-communities lower would be nicer than completely blocking them - i like a nice stupid meme from time to time. am not sure how this could work on reality, son this might not have a perfect solution though.

It's a small QOL suggestion, a "Previous" and "Next" comment button when traversing through comments. I used to use RIF prior to coming to Lemmy Sync and always liked being able to jump from comment to comment.

Does the floating navigation bar exist on the Lemmy app? I feel like I had it at one point but I could be mistaken. I love being able to just from parent to parent comment on some threads.

[โ€“] pbsds@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 years ago (3 children)

I miss the navigation buttons I had on RIF. Each comment had a next and previous button which would jump the focus to the next or previous comment. Replies had a go-to-parent button

I'd like the ability to open an account in a different window. Like how you can long press on a community and it opens in a new window, but with for accounts. Would make it easier than switching accounts and losing your position

[โ€“] ruffsl@programming.dev 2 points 2 years ago

I'll note that when using multiple windows, I recall that switching the user in one window would switch the user for all other windows as well, so support for simultaneous user sessions would probably have to be added as well.

In app YouTube player like Reddit Sync had. Drives me nuts when I inadvertently click a YouTube link and it takes me to the YouTube app. It's a pain to get back to Lemmy.

Also, I think I remember a check box on Reddit Sync's in app browser to disable cookies or clear on close or something. That would be nice to have back.

It would be super helpful if we can hide entire instances from showing up at an individual level. For e.g. I see a lot of posts from feddit.de - I don't have anything bad against the server or the users, but the posts there add no value to my experience and fill up my feed with content I'll simply not understand. It would be a better UX to be able to hide these without having the home instance and other users on it be affected by your preference.

Is this what you're talking about?

Settings shortcut: Filters > Instance filters

(Looked like someone else told you another way to get the same effect, but this way you can input any you know of without having to wait to see the posts. Maybe?)

Is there a way to create a community? I don't think I've seen a way but I haven't done a thorough deep dive

[โ€“] d3Xt3r@lemmy.nz 2 points 2 years ago

Notifications. Doesn't have to be push notifications - polled notifications is fine as well until push is implemented.

After that, cross-posting support.

Thank you for this amazing app! I'd like to be able to download images to my Downloads folder. I'm on Android 12 and currently I cannot select it. It shouldn't be an issue since newer Android versions don't even require write permissions for that.

Any progress on WebM support? Not sure about other instances, but mine converts GIFs to WebM by default when I upload from Sync. But posts with WebM just act like still images in Sync, and tapping on them just leads to a button to open the WebM in a browser.

Not sure if I'm doing something wrong, have an incorrect setting, or if this is expected behavior, but the thing that's been driving me nuts is when I go to share a link it always copies the source of the post for the lemmy link.

If, for example, I'm browsing on lemmy.ml and I want to share a post from lemmy.world, I'd like to be able to copy the lemmy.ml version of the lemmy.world post.

It doesn't make as much sense with public instances, but when you're using a private instance and you want to share with friends and family it can be kind of a hassle to retrieve the URL for said private instance.

[โ€“] lemmyingly@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

User mentions doesn't appear to be working for me.

Someone mentioned me a couple of days ago and it never came through. Could it be an instance thing?

I am still not able to see media from "files.catbox.moe"

Would be nice to be able to see a single comment thread for any given comment, not only when coming from profile comments section.
