A community for your defence shitposting needs

Rules

1. Be niceDo not make personal attacks against each other, call for violence against anyone, or intentionally antagonize people in the comment sections.

2. Explain incorrect defense articles and takes

If you want to post a non-credible take, it must be from a "credible" source (news article, politician, or military leader) and must have a comment laying out exactly why it's non-credible. Low-hanging fruit such as random Twitter and YouTube comments belong in the Matrix chat.

3. Content must be relevant

Posts must be about military hardware or international security/defense. This is not the page to fawn over Youtube personalities, simp over political leaders, or discuss other areas of international policy.

4. No racism / hatespeech

No slurs. No advocating for the killing of people or insulting them based on physical, religious, or ideological traits.

5. No politics

We don't care if you're Republican, Democrat, Socialist, Stalinist, Baathist, or some other hot mess. Leave it at the door. This applies to comments as well.

6. No seriousposting

We don't want your uncut war footage, fundraisers, credible news articles, or other such things. The world is already serious enough as it is.

7. No classified material

Classified ‘western’ information is off limits regardless of how "open source" and "easy to find" it is.

8. Source artwork

If you use somebody's art in your post or as your post, the OP must provide a direct link to the art's source in the comment section, or a good reason why this was not possible (such as the artist deleting their account). The source should be a place that the artist themselves uploaded the art. A booru is not a source. A watermark is not a source.

9. No low-effort posts

No egregiously low effort posts. E.g. screenshots, recent reposts, simple reaction & template memes, and images with the punchline in the title. Put these in weekly Matrix chat instead.

10. Don't get us banned

No brigading or harassing other communities. Do not post memes with a "haha people that I hate died… haha" punchline or violating the sh.itjust.works rules (below). This includes content illegal in Canada.

11. No misinformation

NCD exists to make fun of misinformation, not to spread it. Make outlandish claims, but if your take doesn’t show signs of satire or exaggeration it will be removed. Misleading content may result in a ban. Regardless of source, don’t post obvious propaganda or fake news. Double-check facts and don't be an idiot.

sad to think this probably is the best opportunity north-koreans will have to flee from their country

[–] hector@sh.itjust.works 70 points 4 months ago (1 children)

They’ll probably only send people with families so they can take them in hostage if a soldier flees

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 64 points 4 months ago

To flee North Korea requires playing a long game, marry someone you hate.

[–] JohnDClay@sh.itjust.works 44 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Ukraine takes prisoners, so immediately surrendering is a pretty good escape plan. Just make sure to avoid the Russian troops dedicated to killing deserters.

Avoid, frag, potayto, potahto.

[–] Shipgirlboy@sh.itjust.works 6 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew

[–] mindbleach@sh.itjust.works 4 points 4 months ago

Grenades are easier, but sure, that'd work.

For once, I don't think those contractors will go straight to war crimes. In Iraq and Afghanistan their main orders were to provide security. Unfortunately that meant that they couldn't scratch their itchy trigger fingers. This time around, thanks to Russia flooding the lines with meat, they'll have a target rich environment in which to play with their toys. They'll be too busy playing John Wick against poorly trained ex-cons and conscripts to accidentally kill any women and children.

EDIT: removed Too much information.

At the risk of being too credible, I should point out that contractors don't necessarily mean PMC and most of the time they're just maintenance/support types.

[–] PalmTreeIsBestTree@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago (1 children)

It’s going to be truckers and forklift certified boys

[–] SkyezOpen@lemmy.world 10 points 4 months ago

Oh, that's even worse than PMC. Like 10x the war crimes.

this is all just north korea-south korea proxy war

[–] match@pawb.social 33 points 4 months ago (3 children)

when will the world wake up to the fact Koreans rule the world 😔

[–] pennomi@lemmy.world 22 points 4 months ago

I always knew there was something sinister behind BTS.

[–] Cipher22@lemmy.world 13 points 4 months ago

The only true conflict

[–] frezik@midwest.social 6 points 4 months ago

Zombie Reverend Moon gives you the side eye.

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 15 points 4 months ago

Korean proxy war is the loss.jpg of modern conflicts cmv.

Imagine training for a war like the Korean War, artillery and waves of people shooting at you, then you deploy and see a lone Mavik flying above. Those NK troops have no idea what is going to happen and every single one of them will die confused.

[–] gmtom@lemmy.world 13 points 4 months ago (1 children)

I wonder if they even know what the fuck a drone is? It's going to be like flying a drone over an u contacted tribe except instead of spears they'll have 50 year old AKs

[–] scarrtt@lemm.ee 9 points 4 months ago

I remember seeing my first drone at a music festival in 2010ish. Totally blew me away, pun unintended

[–] DragonTypeWyvern@midwest.social 45 points 4 months ago (1 children)

Is this the first time a North Korean military unit will see actual sustained combat since the Korean War?

Let's see how effective the God Emperor's Divine Training Regimen is.

[–] baldingpudenda@lemmy.world 33 points 4 months ago

Fuck, imagine seeing ppl 30 or so centimeters taller than you. You can't really communicate with them besides point and grunt. You see what looks like a giant mutant bird/ mosquito buzz towards your group and than pop someone is dead.

[–] dactylotheca@suppo.fi 41 points 4 months ago (3 children)

Damnit somebody should just do a Franz Ferdinand to Putin so we could get this bullshit foreplay over with

[–] match@pawb.social 22 points 4 months ago (1 children)

for proper analogy they'd shoot Lukashenko

[–] becausechemistry@lemm.ee 16 points 4 months ago

And also that Lukashenko was widely known for preferring a more reasonable policy toward Ukraine, and he was set to inherit the presidency upon Putin’s death, and that Putin was like right about to die because he became the leader of Russia like 68 years ago

I can't believe it's taken me until now to notice the link between the artist's name and song name in the historical context. Great song btw, karaoke favourite.

[–] Kowowow@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 months ago

If rather be blue balled but if I had to make a request can we try to beat luis carrero blanco's height record

[–] Etterra@lemmy.world 25 points 4 months ago

Putin: Blyat, am need more bodies for war. Where to find idiot who sells cannon fodder? President Kim, my good friend!

[–] FaceDeer@fedia.io 19 points 4 months ago (1 children)

The "I Want To Live" project is going to need a bunch of Korean translators.

[–] verity_kindle@sh.itjust.works 15 points 4 months ago

You would also need interpreters fluent in North Korean dialect. They have been so thoroughly isolated for so long that their language is diverging from Korean spoken in the rest of the world.

[–] Cipher22@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago (1 children)

War crimes? In this war? Never!

[–] Rakonat@lemmy.world 15 points 4 months ago

According to Russia, there is no War. Half a million Russian citizens died in a special operation.

[–] celeste@lemmy.world 1 points 3 months ago

Why are they illiterate I thought comlunist countries liked teaching people to read so their propaganda became more expensive. Can't have shit in DPRK?
