I recently asked if MAS was save to activate windows, it turns out it was as I hoped.

However, I've one last doubt: I downloaded the iso from MASSGRAVE (it-it_windows_10_consumer_editions_version_22h2_updated_may_2024_x64_dvd_49ddadb6.iso) and I installed that already.

Also, I logged in my accounts and used sensible passwords already, should I be worried about this? (I ask because some pirates said the ISO should have been downloaded from Microsoft website :/ ).

Please let me know your opinions

You can always download the ISO from Microsoft's site. Just spoof your User Agent's OS to Linux and it will automatically redirect you to a Windows ISO download page.

I managed to download a legti ISO by spoofing my user agent to linux, I'll check the checksum of the two ISO I have asap

Wait really? What's the site, just go to microsoft.com or something with linux and it redirects you? That's hilariously petty but also useful lmao.

Specifically the OS download links. If you're running Windows, it'll link you into the media creation tool instead however since this tool is a Windows Executable it'll not work on Linux by default, so they link to ISO files instead.

Huh, neat, good to know!

[–] whereBeWaldo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 5 months ago

Can't you also decide to generate an iso with the media generation tool? I believe thats how I did it a while ago.

Always download your Windows ISOs from MS directly: https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10ISO?msockid=1f1e1899fbc26e530dcb0cebfa3f6f8b

The moment you get them from somewhere else, no, it cannot be deemed 100% safe.

Unless you compare the checksum is a match from the ones from Microsoft.

[–] ultratiem@lemmy.ca 12 points 5 months ago (4 children)

Yeah. But unless MS has blocked you, I still don’t see the point getting it elsewhere.

There are legitimate versions of windows that are hard to get as a non enterprise consumer. Such as some of the IOT versions that have much longer security support.

Windows LTSC ftw.

May as well use M$’s bandwidth

I still can't understand how to download the ISO, all I can do is downloading a tool to create a ISO... I'd like to download the sama exact win10 Italian version in order to compare checksum, since I've done a lot of setup already on the laptop

[–] azron@lemmy.ml 4 points 5 months ago

One way to get there might be to hash the iso and then search that hash to see if you find someone referencing it for the official image.

Never had an issue getting an iso from them via Mullvad.

[–] Lemongrab@lemmy.one 2 points 5 months ago (1 children)

How recently. I tested with Mullvad and it gave me a notice.

[–] Lemmchen@feddit.de 2 points 5 months ago

Huh, you're right. But a few weeks ago I was definitely able to download via Fido. Maybe try that.

[–] mp3@lemmy.ca 1 points 5 months ago

I wasn't using a VPN last time the download didn't work, but it might have something to do with me using NextDNS and blocking some of their tracking stuff that way.

No Windows 11 download page and I'm using script from github to force Windows 11 on non supported device but I don't know if it's safe

[–] gemew26@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 5 months ago

I've done quite a of setup already so it'd be annoying, even changing password is. I'll see what I can do next month as I'm to buys the next weekdays and weekends

You can check the md5 hash checksum provided by Microsoft to verify the authenticity. Massgrave gets it from Microsoft, it's a legit ISO just rehosted.

[–] gemew26@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Ty, I also think this. It wouldn't be logic to offer a safe scrips but malware injected ISOs

[–] anzo@programming.dev 2 points 5 months ago

Did you check the md5? If they were different, it could be anything (it doesn't imply modifications from massgrave either)

As for logic, bad actors would do anything. Even hijacking a server and replacing the ISOs of other hackers, or infiltrate the group and do so.

I want to use their script on idm but it doesn't work anymore What I should do and I can't use Coplilot with excel with their script
