The health care system is a mess, the education system is a mess, LTC is atrocious and kids with autism can’t get timely therapy but paper bags in the LCBO is what gets Ford’s attention!

Why does he only seem to care about things related to alcohol? Buck a beer, alcohol in corner stores and now paper bags for alcohol. It's really really weird.

The logistical challenge of getting drunk without 24hr convenience stores available is a hurdle most Etobicoke men repeatedly fail to overcome.

He's hoping everyone will be drunk enough not to notice whose name they're checking off on the ballot during the next election, since this is his second term and three consecutive terms is unusual for an Ontario Premier.

Is Doug gonna force all the gas stations and other new alcohol sellers to also provide paper bags?

[–] MoonChild@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 months ago

Good question! But only for mixed coolers. 😝

[–] jerkface@lemmy.ca 2 points 4 months ago

Of course not; he's going to force the LCBO to provide them to resellers for free.

Autistic kids are not on his drive to the cottage. But paper bags at the LCBO are.

Anything that would facilitate money going into his pockets has his attention.

Pray he doesn't pay more attention to the health care and education systems more than he does, because they'd be on a faster track to defunding and privatization.

It still baffles me that he won because less than 20% of the population got out to vote.

I don’t understand voter apathy and wonder how to get people out to the next election

The other problem is that the other parties have nobody to run. I don't even know who the NDP candidate is although I would happily vote in their favor.

The problem is that the older generations have all these grudges from shit that happened before my lifetime. I don't care about Rae days, but they apparently made the NDP entirely unelectable in Ontario. I don't care about gas plants, but every time the Liberals put somebody forward we just hear screaming about how much money they wasted.

Is it too much to ask that my goddamn social services work? I'd vote for anyone who came out and said public services should be allowed to operate at a loss because they exist to provide a social dividend that cannot be easily calculated in hard cash values, but that seems increasingly less likely these days.

Make an effort to Google. Marit Stiles has an online presence.

Rae was elected in 1990 so it’s just ridiculous Ontarians hold that kind of grudge! Bob Rae, himself, certainly hasn’t suffered. PET implemented wage and price controls but you don’t see people in Federal elections saying that’s why they aren’t voting Libreral! This Conservative government has the largest cabinet in the province’s history and is spending money like it’s water on the most inane things while the things of import are languishing. There better be a change next election

I think it’s really weird too since he doesn’t drink alcohol but, I guess, he thinks the people who do will vote for him. I think this is a case of the last person who talks to him gets what they want. The company that makes the bags was lobbying hard.

My LCBO does not offer bags just a snarky "Bring your own bag"
