Never figured out how to properly use these. I just find it very akward to put my tongue that close to my keyboard.

[–] InternetCitizen2@lemmy.world 20 points 5 months ago

Humble brag, you used it as the designer intended.

[–] soupguy@lemmy.world 94 points 5 months ago

Just hold it in one position and wait for the orgasm to cross the screen.

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 73 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I used to have a friend that did R&D at IBM back in the day. Apparently there was a double nubbin version that they considered at one point.

[–] Anticorp@lemmy.world 38 points 5 months ago (2 children)

What would the second one control?

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 89 points 5 months ago (2 children)

I never actually asked. We just made nipple jokes for 5 minutes.

If I were to guess, it was either a left and right side thing for left and right handed people, or a dual stick for 3 axis control.

[–] bobs_monkey@lemm.ee 24 points 5 months ago

I could actually see a second in be awesome for 3D modelling and CAD work

[–] captain_aggravated@sh.itjust.works 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

Lefty here, the position of the nipple between the GHB keys is pretty convenient to reach with the left hand as well. I do know they made some mice that had a nipple instead of a scroll wheel which would allow for two-axis scrolling, so perhaps you'd assign one for document scrolling and one for cursor control.

[–] simplejack@lemmy.world 2 points 5 months ago

We we talking about the early physical prototypes they were making. And when you do that type of R&D, you try lots of weird stuff. You don’t know if it feels good until you try it.

Could’ve been for handedness, then when they played with the prototypes, they realized the middle was the best solution.

Or maybe it felt great, and the nipple jokes were too much.

Her prostate?

[–] JudahBenHur@lemm.ee 61 points 5 months ago

I came so hard when you firmly pressed my clit on one side for a little while

[–] Kolanaki@yiffit.net 54 points 5 months ago (1 children)

"Why is the keyboard covered in saliva?"

"I was practicing..."

[–] ThatWeirdGuy1001@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

"You just gotta get all up in there"

[–] psmgx@lemmy.world 49 points 5 months ago

Lenovo?! This was IBM, son!

Also get off my lawn

[–] EmoDuck@sh.itjust.works 34 points 5 months ago

Sir, if you keep licking the pointing sticks on our laptops we will have to ask you to leave the store

[–] Magister@lemmy.world 34 points 5 months ago

Yup, we call this the "clito" in France, since the 90s for sure

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 27 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Me, gay, cave johnson voice: "what am I supposed to do with these?!"

(and no, suprisingly most guys I've been with have at best 0 interest in nipple play 😔)

[–] Juvyn00b@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I hate nipple play when sober. Bring on the alcohol and apparently I really get into it

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 9 points 5 months ago

scribbles notes

[–] ThirdWorldOrder@lemm.ee 4 points 5 months ago (2 children)

Too ticklish and makes me squirm. Can’t even milk them for sustenance.

[–] wreckedcarzz@lemmy.world 4 points 5 months ago

Something a little bit of rope can fix in a jiffy :p

I still don't get how anyone can efficiently use these. How does your pointer not go all over the place?

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 28 points 5 months ago (3 children)

Well, like any new user interface paradigm… you adapt to it. And if you don’t like it, don’t use it.

[–] Knoxvomica@lemmy.ca 12 points 5 months ago

At one point my main computer was a Thinkpad, I got so good at using this that I played total annihilation and mech warrior 5 solely with the nub.

[–] nexussapphire@lemm.ee 9 points 5 months ago (1 children)

The best part is when your finger goes numb and falls off.

[–] bitwaba@lemmy.world 3 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I developed tendonitis from the pressure i'd use with it. I eventually had to remove the nub so that I couldn't use it and forced myself the use the trackpad instead.

mouse & touchpad >>>> keyboard central analog stick wat

[–] abbotsbury@lemmy.world 6 points 5 months ago

Not if you type more frequently than you mouse, so having a pointer right on home row can be super convenient.

[–] jaschen@lemm.ee 14 points 5 months ago (1 children)

I find that after using it, it was faster than taking my hands off the keyboard to engage the trackpad.

[–] Ferris@infosec.pub 5 points 5 months ago (1 children)

turn up your touchpad cursor speed. thing is a monster.

Loved the nub, but it also ruined touch pads for me.

[–] HakFoo@lemmy.sdf.org 15 points 5 months ago (2 children)

It makes shopping for laptops either super-easy or super-hard.

I can either get a Thinkpad, or try to find the one or two HP and Dell business laptops with one... and we all know how it ends (looks at stack of X230t, E585, and new L13)

[–] DarkThoughts@fedia.io 7 points 5 months ago (1 children)

It's already hard for me because I personally prefer the US layout, while living in Germany, and most laptops seem to be only available with the German keyboard layouts. And Lenovo has kinda gone to shit after the Chinese takeover too. I just wish the nub would be more common, and not just for business models.

[–] l10lin@lemmy.world 8 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago)

Lenovo starts up in China actually, so there is no "Chinese takeover". By that term you could mean IBM sold their personal computer business(ThinkPad, etc.) to Lenovo.

[–] snowadv@lemm.ee 2 points 5 months ago* (last edited 5 months ago) (1 children)

It is going to be harder and harder in a few years. They already worsened the keyboard and made trackpoint buttons flat like dell ones so we'll all eventually switch back to trackpads or mouses I guess. Too nieche product honestly so I get it but kinda sad :(

Everybody loves Nubert.

[–] whaleross@lemmy.world 19 points 5 months ago

They were great back in the day when trackpads were shite and the option was a tiny trackball on your laptop.

Used to play starcraft with the nib 😏

[–] thefrankring@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

I practice my whole life for this.

[–] werefreeatlast@lemmy.world 5 points 5 months ago

Honey, where's your F2 button? I gotta get to the bios to start installing Linux. You'll really enjoy it!

While not necessary, I do find that mouse can have some niche application, like clicking while smoothly scrolling.
