Passed this on a backpacking trip in the Berkshires, northeast US. Very new to mushroom ID, but iNaturalist said it was Chicken of the Woods! Didn't try to eat it, but it was cool to find something potentially edible! I later spotted a ton more on fallen trees farther off trail.

It absolutely is. I live near the Berkshires, and just harvested about 20 pounds of them from a local tree. Dinner last night was excellent!

I found it a couple if times and eaten it once. Didn't taste much to me, the texture was interesting but it gave me a stomachache even after boiling it for 10+ minutes and pan frying it.
