I’m trying to figure out how to pull posts that I have saved into my RSS reader. I grabbed the RSS link from the saved posts page of my profile and added it to my RSS reader but nothing comes across except for my actual posts. I can’t seem to figure it out and feel I’m missing something completely obvious as it can’t be this complicated. Appreciate any insight as I feel like I’m going crazy!

What's the RSS link you got?

AFAIK, theere is no RSS link for saved posts. When I go to https://lemm.ee/u/Crul?view=Saved, the RSSHub Radar addon only shows this feed: https://lemm.ee/feeds/u/Crul.xml?sort=New

Note the sort=New and the absence of anything regarding saved posts.

If I re-create the logical URL for the RSS feed of saved posts, I get a feed with my submitted posts: https://lemm.ee/feeds/u/Crul.xml?view=Saved

If I were wrong (please correct me if that's the case), then you would probably need to provide your RSS reader with the credentials for your account... unless the saved posts are public for anyone to see, which sounds a bit weird.

You bring up a good point. Looking at the URL, it doesn't reveal anything about saved posts. Bummer. Would be cool if lemmy implemented like Reddit does. I wouldn't mind providing credentials as TTRSS has that ability. I'll have to just keep an eye out for future development.

Would be cool if lemmy implemented like Reddit does.

You can open an issue on the repository and, if you have the skills, you can even implement it yourself :).

TTRSS

May I ask you if you know about any public (and free?) TTRSS instance?
Thanks!

Awesome I'll check that out and submit something!

Unfortunately, I do not. I host my own via Docker. I initially started with the official TTRSS docker that had like a dozen containers but moved to http://ttrss.henry.wang/#about which has been super easy to manage and only has a couple containers.

I see this as a bug. It’s reasonable to expect RSS feeds per grouping of posts showing under an account profile (posts, comments, saved, etc). Posts and comments are covered, but not Saved.

So either the feed icon should be removed to avoid confusion or, better, RSS for Saved should be added (on par with Reddit in that way).

Did you ever file it as an issue? I can’t seem to find a reference to it on the GitHub page.

I am a user, not someone running an instance of Lemmy so I don’t feel I can file and support it at the level that would be expected.

So let me see if I get this straight, We don't get RSS feeds for our saved posts because the developer of a federated service that was created in response to increased centralization and lockdown of user's content in other platforms doesn't see the need for it?

Sadly, yes.

RSS off of other profile content (such as posts) serves an acceptable function I guess (e.g. cross-posting, blog feed) but sharing saved posts does not meet the cut for some reason.

Feel free to jump on that ticket and articulate a more compelling argument, if it’s still open. More votes might change their stance over time.

Ope, didn't mean to comment on this one, sorry.

EDIT: Alright WTH, Sync is playing silly buggers with my comment display.
