Interesting that they decided to make him Orzhov. He's probably as mono-black as they come. What is white about him?

The mechanics are WB. The character himself may be mono black but it's harder to justify the card being so with a straight lifegain effect.

Yeah, I've always seen the lifelink/ life gaining as the white aspect.

Yeah if it was gain life equal to how much life someone else lost it could be justified as black, but doubling lifegain is pretty solidly white.
