The are old, not uncomfortable and as fast as the new ones. They are getting replaced continually.
I always get excited when I get on one of the old ones, they're so charming and no worse than the new ones. A bit louder maybe.
They had the whole engine control circuitry replaced in 2010/2011, so they act and sound differently than way back when they were new (1977-1990).
I think they’re pretty well-made in general, but the high floor is certainly a relic of its time and there are no informational displays for passengers on the inside.
