I come from iOS jailbreaking, and there was a tweak called cylinder that would add custom swipe animations when swiping from page to page in the home screen. I was wondering if there was anything similar to that on android. I’m willing to root if it’s required.

I dunno if this meets your needs, but I've been using Panels to add some quick actions to a swipe along a configurable edge of the screen. It's pretty handy for quickly pulling up frequently-used apps without going to the home screen and scrolling through the app drawer. You can also set up widgets and other shortcuts for some quick access, as well.

I haven't tried it yet, but the same developer has another app that looks pretty similar, but has a wheel menu, instead. Not sure if this is something you could make use of, but figure I'll share it, too. It looks like it's not been updated for a while, though, so this might be deprecated.

That wasn't what I was looking for, but thanks for telling me about that app! I think I'll be using it because it looks like a good app.
