It’s not implausible that, among the enzymes in cat saliva, there are some which evolved to maintain the condition of the cat’s coat.
But how will we know if it's in our saliva if we never lick ourselves clean?
Get a tongue extension and try it out. For science.
Don't people also give their cats food that explicitly aids them in growing a better coat?
That, and cat hair is much finer.
