I'd like to get a Bambu Labs A1 with the AMS but I'll want a sturdy surface to put it on. I'm shopping around for tables with drawers and I'd like to know how big it needs to be. There are dimensions for the printer itself but it's hard to know how much more space I need to accommodate the AMS.

You can also mount the AMS on the top bar of the A1

That sound like it would wobble and easily tip over, no?

It's a wobbly affair but it does work and Bambu does offer it as an option with a mounting bracket you can print. I.. just put my AMS to the side because my table is already kinda scuffed :D

I top-mounted it to my A1-mini and it does just fine. I'd imagine the full A1 should be alright.
