In the last 20 years, the average voter turnout has been around 40%, trending upwards steadily. It got a big help by trump which made the 2020 election have a 66% voter turnout to vote him out (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Voter_turnout_in_United_States_presidential_elections).
Politicians in pre-2000 sure must've felt the pressure of the non-voter stance constantly right? Influenced policy even? It's crazy... But it almost seems like... The government only cares about votes that are submitted? That can't be right though, you said by not voting I would be sticking it to them!
