Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.

The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:

  1. This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.

  2. We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.

  3. As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!

  4. Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.

  5. Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).

  6. Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.

  7. Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

Technically he wasn't a Sith Lord at that point.

Depends on which lore you follow, He was groomed from very young, and I hate this, but new canon has made Sidious the one that impregnated Anis mom, with the force that is.

Comic implies he uses the force to either modify his midichlorians or implant them to begin with. Shmi was already pregnant.

Ok, but if you can do that, can't you feedback loop power up yourself like Goku?

That was plageuis’ experiments were trying to figure out. He could absorb other people’s life force to replenish his. And iirc some previous siths could just take over hosts bodies too.

How can the lore be this badass but the movies come out so bad?

[–] SchmidtGenetics@lemmy.world 5 points 3 months ago* (last edited 3 months ago)

Well, how do you think he was able to seduce Anakin over? He did have some knowledge about being able to transfer life force between beings. Hence his spiel in the movie about “darth plageous the wise”. The lore wasn’t that deep than, but it seems seeds were atleast there.

It’s the unfortunate thing about being able to flesh it out after, kinda makes the stuff seem “too convenient”. Was Lucas thinking THIS far ahead, unlikely, but it did seem he had some idea of life force transfer in his head at the movie time.

The movie does also imply in a very not obvious way and a bit of a stretch that padmes life force was taken to save Ani as well.

If these guys could draw the line between what's them and what's body, you'd think they might be better about the whole self fulfillment thing. They're literally sitting pretty on the question I most desire an answer for. What is the mechanism of qualia?

...Plagueis and Palpatine creating Anakin is a part of Legends continuity, not new Disney canon, as part of the Darth Plagueis novel, released in 2012. Though Acolyte does imply they're going to also establish that in Disney canon as well.

i remember the initial announcement of the Acolyte and ties to it being focused on sheev. I feel like it will move to palps being the Acolyte of the title. God I hope so the twin shit is so lame and cringey osha is a straight up traitor and is so fucking cringey

I’ve read the entire legends series through to the end of episode 3 sceeenplay, it’s not mentioned in legends/expanded universe that Sidious did anything, it was a failed experiment by plageous and he didn’t even know it at the time…. A new comic that came out this year or last in Disney canon is where it comes from.

Edited for clarity

I mean, that's real cool, but this wiki states that the Grand Experiment, during which Plagueis and Palpatine made Anakin, was in Legends continuity.

Wasn't it the opposite? Plagueis tried to corrupt the living force and create life but the force was so disgusted by him that it cut him out and created Anakin as the counter the tilt?

Plagueis wanted to create perfect force life but was cut off. The living force was Anakin's other procreator.

Could be completely wrong. I saw all of this in a Sheev Talks video where I was so sure he was referencing a canon book.

You are bang on legends lore, in Disney lore they changed it to Sidious directly manipulating a pregnant shmi.

Like I don’t totally 100% hate it, it works with Plageous as well, they could do that his experiment failed and sidious further augmented the midichlorians. That line of reasoning is kinda cool, I just hate how everything seems to revolve around palpatine.

BUT with the rule of 2, until someone replaces him or he has a new apprentice, everything kinda does have to be done by him. So kinda hemlocked by the lore in that regard.
