I really do wish framing pictures wasn't so expensive. And Australia being Australia means that when you shop around prices seem to roughly the same everywhere.
Years ago I did a framing course at a shop - you learn how to do it yourself, then you can go in and use the equipment there and just pay for your materials. More recently I've just bought some cheap pictures/frames at the op shop and used those.
If I was going to be framing pictures on a frequent basis I'd consider it but that's not where I'm at now.

Unfortunately they have both moved and changed name since I did that, I'm not sure if they are around any more or not.

Itβs not particularly difficult, but a not cheap set up if you only want to do an occasional. Mitre gauge/clamp, mitre saw, matt cutter, measure mat at least.
