Bikes are great. Just saying.
Until you have to travel over 40 miles in any direction.
I live car-free, and I travel over 40 miles every now and then.
Well done mate!
I don't need that: I live in a city. Suburbs suck.
What argument? I'm just saying that it works for me and many others.
Most commutes aren't 40 miles even for suburbanites. Some people get worked up for suggesting that biking is viable for a lot of us for no reason, talking about edge cases, that often could be covered by public transport.
40?
You're in better shape than I am.
Probably because he rides a bike
No, because when it's over 40 he either uses a bus, train, plane, or someone else's car. He never said he bikes 40mi, he says "sometimes he travels 40mi."
Seems the commenter you replied to either thinks he means bikes, or was making a joke about the obvious missing information on the method of over 40mi travel.
And only some e-bikes have a built-in cell phone.
You don't have a disability. Just saying.
there are also many disabilities that prevents one from driving. Meanwhile infrastructure that is safe for bikes would also be safe for mobility devices travel
How ableist of you. Like so many others, if I could ride a bike I would.
How ableist of you to assume that we could read your reply.
Tbf there is sort of a barrier to entry to text based websites or at least the comment section therein, it is a reasonable expectation that everyone reading the comment section can either read or TTS it or else they wouldn't be here. It is not a reasonable assumption that everyone who is concerned about the privacy of automobiles has the use of their legs. While cars can be built in such a way that legs are not necessary, to my knowledge bicycles have yet to be unless we're counting wheelchairs.
