Sometimes on Lemmy these seem like the only jobs that actually exist, but I'm sure there's a lot of people here with different and unusual lines of work.

Embedded Software Engineer. Like the software that would run on a coffee maker, medical equipment, bulldozer, etc.

I'm working on a computer science degree, and stuff like that is by far the most interesting to me! Assuming you don't dislike your job, can I ask how you got into that field?

Got a job as an engineer technician working on electrical stuff for a couple years when fresh out of school, kept diligent with applications and eventually landed something in the field. What got me most interested in the field was through volunteering at a lab during college mostly helped out a PhD student with a couple random month long projects. Having a background in the electrical side of things can be a big help as well.

Too bad; you’ll be a soulless React dev and you will like it!
