What is geoscience?
Geoscience (also called Earth Science) is the study of Earth. Geoscience includes so much more than rocks and volcanoes, it studies the processes that form and shape Earth's surface, the natural resources we use, and how water and ecosystems are interconnected. Every time I hear one of these hypothetical Fantasyland takes of everyone getting on the same page I almost laugh. It would be nice, and I really don't want to increase my already high level of cynicism, but does anyone really think we'll all get on the same page? I know in the US a large swath of the population holds strongly to anti-environment beliefs, firmly rooted in ignorance and culture war rhetoric. I also know that rampant capitalism will do everything it can to protect short term gains.
