Kinda goes against the theme of the setting, but what if one of the vaults was successful in experimenting on humans genetically or something.

Would be cool to be a master chief style Spartan looking dude coming out of the vault in a more fucked up area and bringing down the hammer.

I just like the idea of mixing it up lol.

Also iirc there was a vault in fallout 1 where the experiment was making super mutants (I haven't played it I just watch YouTube lore videos), or at least using FEV to experiment on people.
