Having physical preferences is ok, you can’t be forced to be attracted to someone you aren’t attracted to. This goes both ways of course

More like, he was already swiping right on anyone he was interested in but Tinder thought that it could sell him on a premium upgrade because he missed a match with someone he didn't want to match with and already swiped left specifically to avoid matching with.

It's all about mutual attraction. If the other person isn't interested, there's no point in matching. If you aren't interested, there's still no point in matching.
