1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack members of the community for any reason.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

What's so special/annoying/good/bad/different about arch anyway? Honestly I'm 100% out out the loop here..

Arch is developed under the keep it simple stupid design philosophy. It also has one of the most extensive linux manuals, a die hard user base, I use arch btw. And arch is often ahead of other distros with updates as the aur (arch user repository) is managed by users

Honestly, it's really not that special. Only reason I would ever use Arch is the AUR (which nixpkgs are a lot bigger than) and its absolutely great wiki (which you can use as a guide no matter your distro.). The reason there is a really small elitist community among the Arch Linux users is the knowledge you need to know to install it, and its illusion of minimalism.

Once upon a time, it was rightly a hard distro for people who wanted to customize everything. So only professional users used it and it became some sort of meme that skrip kiddiz would use arch to show off like they're a pro

Those days are long gone, Arch has become a mainstream and relatively easy distro

    No bloat like

    • graphical file manager
    • app store
    • settings app
