So Lakan isn't as much of an ass as he was initially presented as. This episode was a bit of a difficult watch, Feng Xian clearly didn't want to be bought out but once the bid reached too high to turn down she challenged Lakan hoping to get him to buy her instead. What an awful position for her to be in, before she was just a tragic backstory for our protagonist but now she's a character who I felt sympathy for and hoped things would turn out better even knowing they won't.
It's really incredible how everything slowly comes together in this show, I imagine I'd enjoy it a lot more if I binged it instead of watching weekly cause there's some stuff that I forget from previous episodes.
Yeah this episode explains a lot of Lakan's earlier actions. He was basically communicating in the only way he knew how. If his family we're more attentive he might have been better at sensing social cues instead of seeing everyone as game pieces. It's pretty clear to me at least that he's not actually incapable of it, he's just trying to understand something unfamiliar by reframing it in the context of a game.
Yeah, currently it definitely seems that he isn't a bad person, the dominoes just fell in such a way that we are where we are and not because he intentionally abandoned Fen Xian and Maomao.
This episode also revealed that Lakan's uncle is Maomao's adoptive father, wonder what affect that'll have on the story going forward. I hope they'll explain why Lakan never tried to find out what happened to Fen Xian, it seems he just assumed she passed away completely unaware of her current status.
