In the 90s watching Baywatch we all knew that the lifeguards were sexy.

Today they're not sexy but "sexualized"

which is the same except with negative connotation.

There's the extra idea that they shouldn't be portrayed that way.

Are you working on a dissertation by chance?

There was a generation of kids that had a wank over Baywatch or their actors. Both young men and young ladies
