Anyone else have the same problem? I activated the photo backup which works more or less but only when I have the app open. I would expect it to backup taken images automatically. Why should I keep the app open for that?

I just tested it on android it does backups in the background for me on android 14 as long as I have it unrestricted on app battery usage if it's restricted it won't upload in the background make sure you have it unrestricted so it can run in the background.

Thanks. Indeed I had to change this setting. Will test it as soon as I could fix some sync issue with an image I have now. I think this prevents it also from working in background.

I wish that was an option on iOS. It’s annoying having to keep the app open.

Yeah that is a limitation of iOS because Apple is so aggressive with background tasks most photos apps don't upload in the background unless you only use iCloud.
