Community rules (click to expand)

1. Follow the site-wide rules

2. Be civil
  • Understand the difference between a joke and an insult.
  • Do not harrass or attack members of the community for any reason.
  • Leave remarks of "peasantry" to the PCMR community. If you dislike an OS/service/application, attack the thing you dislike, not the individuals who use it. Some people may not have a choice.
  • Bigotry will not be tolerated.
  • These rules are somewhat loosened when the subject is a public figure. Still, do not attack their person or incite harrassment.
  • 3. Post Linux-related content
  • Including Unix and BSD.
  • Non-Linux content is acceptable as long as it makes a reference to Linux. For example, the poorly made mockery of sudo in Windows.
  • No porn. Even if you watch it on a Linux machine.
  • 4. No recent reposts
  • Everybody uses Arch btw, can't quit Vim, and wants to interject for a moment. You can stop now.

  • Please report posts and comments that break these rules!

Wait is the joke that it has no windows or that some Linux users have never gone outside in their entire life?!?

    [–] Diplomjodler@feddit.de 81 points 9 months ago (4 children)

What's this "outside" people keep saying I should go to? I use Arch, BTW.

I've been there. It's awful. Full of natural light and... blegh... people.

Zero stars, I'd rather use Ubuntu

The only type of “People” I know of are Richard Stallman, and Linus Torvalds! Never seen anyone other than myself in my life. Is that normal?

What about anime cat girls? You do know some of those, don't you?

Omg yes that’s my girlfriend 😻😻😻

    I'd rather use Ubuntu

Don't say scary things like that! I'm going to have nightmares!

    You forgot something...

    • firewalld
    • network manager

    My work is done... 666

    [–] rtxn@lemmy.world 4 points 9 months ago (1 children)

firewalld I understand, but why is NetworkManager scary? Is it the capital letters in the package name?

    [–] kautau@lemmy.world 2 points 9 months ago

doesn’t end in d. iwd or fear

where can i find the source code, asking for a friend

    [–] rtxn@lemmy.world 3 points 9 months ago* (last edited 9 months ago) (1 children)

Nobody can tell where it came from. Some people theorize that parts of the source code were taken from a third-party repository called "The Holy Bible" but it seems doubtful.

I heard that the world was made from https://gitlab.com/bigbang/cosmicdust but I can’t be sure…

    [–] Abnorc@lemm.ee 12 points 9 months ago

I didn't find it in the AUR. Probably not worth it.

It's this place where the light burns your skin and the plants release pollen that triggers your allergies. Nobody should go there unless they're one of the people that makes desktop wallpapers.

idk, viewing the outside probably a shitty and useless windows application

    [–] Dra@lemmy.zip 5 points 9 months ago

Both of those things, plus also that due to Linux is being best served via the command line, so a "GUI" like a window would be unnecessary
