I want to take back 'Retard'. Because I want it to apply to things that are infuriatingly stupid, instead of it being used as a derogatory term towards special needs people.

Trump

Some dingus made using that word a lot less desirable

The same thing happened to "Republican." Unlike how the Democrat party changed, "Republican" has a meaning that predates the US party. The core planks of the modern Republican party have nothing in relation with the historic meaning of the word.

While I've never been a Republican, there was a time when the word meant a philosophy I could respect (if not agree with). Now, it just means vile, horrible people with a horrific agenda.

Honestly, how far back? Republicans have been evil for many decades now. I can think back to Reagan as the beginning of destroying America but it probably goes back even further.

Much further back… Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. The party was founded on anti- slavery. The current party has nothing to do with the original party.
