Off topic, but I just wanted to say thanks for your level of positive engagement in this community :)

With the new Scaled sorting algorithm, I'm even seeing some Winnipeg stuff in my Frontpage feed now, instead of having to manually check the community. So I hope others will see more of your posts too. I'd even argue that Scaled should be the default sort option on lemmy.ca for this reason.

Thanks - I'm hopeful we can gain traction and engagement both here and in c/manitoba - my personal resolution is to comment on stuff more often.

Feel free to use the crosspost feature often to duplicate between the two, where appropriate. Some people are subscribed to one or the other. It splits discussion (assuming there is any), but raises visibility. A tradeoff I'm at least willing to make.

Agreed - I've been trying to post stuff to the most "appropriate" community when possible, but I quite like the way Lemmy handles crossposts, at least on desktop.

I'll also admit that I'm guilty of thinking of Winnipeg as my local community without regard to Manitoba. Which is funny, since I grew up in rural MB. I'll try to be better about it :)

I grew up rural, too - that's one of the reasons I agreed to take on moderation of the community. It would be nice to get some more non-Winnipeg discussion going.

That will require more users. Chicken and egg eh

Yep. For now, best to help the communities be as good as they can be, so they're appealing to new users as they trickle in. The long game ain't always fun.
