Costco workers in Norfolk have unionised and Costco are seething.

If the union won’t make things better for your employees, then it won’t make anything worse for you, either.

There's overhead to unions that someone has to pay for.

Yes, dues. If the employees voted to form a union and pay the dues associated with that union, that's their choice. I've never heard of an employer paying to support a labor union.
