They programmed the game to give you ads in the map menu by accident? Is that even possible? This is clearly them testing the waters on ass to see what gamers will allow
Honestly, yeah, it was just probably supposed to show up elsewhere like the main menu when you start the game.
Most of these modern menu systems are basically websites these days, so all the menus are just kind of hidden away but ready to go all the time. Bugs could reveal the wrong thing at the wrong time.
If they wanted to test the waters, they could do that with user testing or in a less blatant way.
