Forever War is fantastic - there's a sequel too which is equally good.
I'm just finishing a re-read of Far Side Of The World so will be starting Children of Memory which is 3rd in a series and then if I happen to finish that then the new one by SJ Parris, Alchemy.
Had no idea there was a sequel! Brilliant.
I really need to try and give Children of Time another go. Tried the audiobook but couldn’t get into it.
Do it, do it, do it. Children of Time is amazing, it's taken second place on my all time sci-fi faves list (after Foundation).
Stuck an order in for a physical copy at my wee local bookshop. Cannae wait.
Yup Forever Peace.
Definitely give the 'Children of...' series another go.
I personally struggle with audiobooks. I'm not one of those who claim audiobooks aren't 'real' books, it's just that for me, when I read a book via print (e or standard) there's just me and the author. When it's an audiobook, no matter how good the narrator might be, there's now this 3rd person in the process and they might have their own take on how a character speaks or inflects or put emphasis on things I don't. I just find it really jarring.
