I think it was Mascherano who said: "The thing about Messi is that he doesn't realize he's Messi."

He's just a player, a football fan, like any other who would be in awe of Zidane.

The other funny thing is that Messi is getting the point in middle age where he doesn't seem so much younger than Zidane anymore. They were still playing at the same time at some point.
