I'm not a fan of people forking someone else's work without changing the name.

So what happens when the original developer wants to publish a Lemmy app? Also feels so misleading like you're trying to lure people into thinking you're the original dev.

Slide and now Infinity for Lemmy are both forked by different people, but the names haven't changed. Feels scummy.

This is why some people (like me) are sceptical to make their work open source.

It's not a perfect solution, because it leaves the work to you... but you can amend your license or make a custom license that explicitly requires disclosure and original naming. Or trademark it.

That's what Mozilla did with Firefox.
