Having a debate with an Italian guy about who is the bigger club and I think it's close.

Both have won their domestic league 19 times and Milan have 1 more Champions League.

Milan probably have more well known legends like Van Basten, Kaka, Maldini, Gullit and Pirlo. But in recent years Liverpool have had Gerrard, Suarez, Alonso, VVD and Salah.

The current popularity of the Premier League helps Liverpool but Milan also has a huge fanbase.

The big historic 7 European Supergiants are Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester United, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus and AC Milan.

Real Madrid are probably top of that list but there's arguments about the order of the other 6.

I would argue ajax and inter milan are among these supergiants as well

ajax easily goes there, at the very top, you could easily make a case for them being a bigger club than barcelona. Barcelona didnt have an european cup until 1992, when ajax had 3, and they were one of the best teams in european history

You really have a bee in your bonnet about LFC don't you. Is it because your beloved Spurs have won fuck all?

Inter is obviously a supergiant club too, make it 8.

Unfortunately there is no discussion Real Madrid is at the top.

[–] LorenzoBargioni@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

And juventus at the bottom

[–] Tamelmp@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Arsenal is bigger than Juve and Milan

Sit back down sunbeam and learn some history. 😂

Would we really call United a historic Euro Supergiant?

[–] Ok_Command_1630@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They're probably second in that list behind Real to be honest.

[–] Chipis08@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Hmm, not sure by what metric you’d consider them in that position.

Man Utd have win fewer European Cups than Ajax.

[–] Hotusrockus@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

So do juve to be fair.

[–] Smokey-McSmoke-Smoke@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Man United need more European success to be considered a giant in Europe.

[–] Tricky-Passion1845@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

Juventus doesn’t make it over Ajax

[–] Alternative-Arm9298@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

If you’re talking historically I think Ajax deserve to be mentioned. They have 4 CL titles. Also Inter have more CL titles than Juve and same as United while having more league titles than them
