Edit: We have established that everyone here is in fact old.

Like, I say that I'm getting old. I make jokes all the time about being middle aged. But I never really felt old until now, you know?

This realisation is brought to you not by random aches and pains, not by the ever-increasing number of grey hairs, not even by my long list of old lady hobbies.

But rather by how much I'm looking forward to spending a thrilling Friday night *checks notes* watching Top of the Pops reruns with the folks over on Mastodon. It's kind of hilarious because the rest of the week the #TOTP tag is usually all internet security and whatnot, and then we just shamelessly take it over for a couple of hours every Friday.

Missed it last week because husband was out somewhere so we caught up later, but it wasn't the same without the live tooting gang. Really excited to get back to the routine!

What have I become 😭

Tell me about your exciting Friday night plans a day early, that I may live vicariously. Or maybe join me in my grumbles about advancing age, idc, just distract me from all the work I'm not doing right now.

My fiancé and I are getting drunk together for the first time. I’m going dress shopping alone with his mom, then immediately working a shift at a bakery on Friday, so it’s going to be a really stressful day. We’re getting married in two weeks and we only got permission to marry three weeks ago, plus my semester in grad school just started and he’s looking for a job (though money’s not really an issue and he’s in the last stage of contract negotiations with a company he likes), so it’s a generally incredibly stressful and hectic time. It couldn’t really be helped, because I’m not a citizen here, so they gave us a short window of permission to marry, but it still sucks

Ok yes stressful, but also exciting! I can relate a little bit, actually got married back in April on quite short notice, but our situation wasn't quite as hectic as yours. It does suck, but you'll get through it! And imagine the relief when it's all over and done with (that was my favourite part).

Best of luck with his job search and I hope everything starts to calm down a bit for you both soon <3

It’s Friday night here- I’m so incredibly happy with the dress. I didn’t expect it at all, but the first one I tried on fit absolutely beautifully 🥰

It was actually really nice to get breakfast with her and then go dress shopping, she was lovely and supportive and we also solved the restaurant issue, so it’s getting a lot better already. I’m actually excited about the wedding again now and we’re both so much less stressed.

Plus, I typically have a serious rbf, but I was just so happy all day today, that I couldn’t stop smiling, so I made a bunch of tips at work, so literally everything went perfectly. We’re now one drink in and he’s finishing cooking dinner while I make the next round.

I hope your night is as expected and going just as well as mine 😁

This is the dress!!!

Wow! That is actually stunning, congrats on finding it so quickly! I'm glad your day went well in the end. We're just heading out ourselves because what I missed off of the OP is that it's also our 11 year anniversary today, so going for a little late-night road trip to a spot we like with a flask of tea 😂

Have a great time tonight!
