Edit: We have established that everyone here is in fact old.
Like, I say that I'm getting old. I make jokes all the time about being middle aged. But I never really felt old until now, you know?
This realisation is brought to you not by random aches and pains, not by the ever-increasing number of grey hairs, not even by my long list of old lady hobbies.
But rather by how much I'm looking forward to spending a thrilling Friday night *checks notes* watching Top of the Pops reruns with the folks over on Mastodon. It's kind of hilarious because the rest of the week the #TOTP tag is usually all internet security and whatnot, and then we just shamelessly take it over for a couple of hours every Friday.
Missed it last week because husband was out somewhere so we caught up later, but it wasn't the same without the live tooting gang. Really excited to get back to the routine!
What have I become ๐ญ
Tell me about your exciting Friday night plans a day early, that I may live vicariously. Or maybe join me in my grumbles about advancing age, idc, just distract me from all the work I'm not doing right now.
Friday night we'll be making onion bhajis for Goth Christmas on Saturday. Wifey suffers chronic pain and has been really bad this week, so it looks like I'm making bhajis and taking directions, which is fine I'll just smoke a little toots-a-roots beforehand and drink rum throughout.
Saturday daytime will be party prep. This year is Sugar Skull themed so I'm bucking the trend and going in Misfits Skull Face in a Satanic hoody and cloak, I've even got some black contacts coming. No colour for me!
Halloween is a proper event for us, I've been working overtime so I have the cash for all the food and beer and costumes, and I'm gonna get blitzed. The kids are wearing hoodies so I can just grab their hoods like reins and shout "HOME!" and know I'll get back fine.
Haha, that sounds awesome! I mean, all the stuff other than your poor wife suffering, obviously. Everyone I know stopped having Halloween parties when we were about 21 and I do not understand, so I just fill the house with handmade decorations and we do a movie marathon just the two of us, of terrible old horrors chosen at random by a decision wheel app. It's better than nothing, but would definitely benefit from more rum.
Well life goals next year, throw a party and invite everyone eh?
We didn't do Halloween parties for a long time but fell in with a new friend group a few years ago and they do a proper bash every year, so glad we found them it's now the highlight of my calendar!
Everything is better when Rum is involved, except maybe driving.
You're right. Step one: make some friends. I have a whole year to figure it out!
