Before everyone gets angry, they're not saying that they're gonna purposely pick more players of different ethnicities. They're saying that they're working on encouraging more of them into football

Reddit gets very testy whenever the topic of diversity in the workforce comes up, even when the context is as tame as "We'd like to make sure that everyone feels there's a possibility of finding successful employment here".

This is a sensible and actually admirable example of it to be fair. Recent "diversity pushes" like the RAF actively rejecting candidates because they were white was abhorrent.

You say that, but Arsenal are literally responding to freaks getting angry on Twitter about their team photo
