A lot of people shit on Minecraft but I started playing it because my little sister was really into it. I set up a self hosted server and she would invite her friends to play on it sometimes.

They would build all these crazy things. It really reminded me of my passion with legos as a kid. I’d try to help them out but usually I got in the way so I just kept to managing the server and making changes for them as needed. Still a ton of fun and it’s one of the few things I easily wish I could go back and live over again.

That's a really sweet older sibling thing to do

It’s one of those things you start doing randomly and don’t appreciate how meaningful it was until you look back at it. My sister is in college now and has a boyfriend. So the days of hanging out with big bro on Minecraft are long over 😅

Minecraft is absolutely incredible, if you look at some popular SMPs like Hermitcraft or Scicraft it gives you an idea of what you can do with it. It is also flawed and could be improved in many ways, but it's still under development and doesn't show any signs of slowing down. So there is still hope on that front.
