Musically, Babymetal is basically their backing band (Kami Band) IMO, and they are obviously very good. The idol/dancing aspect is why I personally could never get into Babymetal, that's just not my thing.
I do like their singing, but the idol stuff definitely leaves a bit of a weird taste. Idol industry is pretty bad in terms of how it treats the idols (though AFAIK the Japanese are slightly better about this than the Koreans).
Oh yeah, the whole idol business is pretty weird, and we won't speak of K-pop here. 😆
But Babymetal is not typical of the idol industry, so that's not my issue with them. It's just that I somehow can't really "connect" to music if its faces, the people on stage, are not the ones who actually play (and ideally also wrote) it. And idk, the dancing is just weird to me.
