Not sure where you're getting Edward Snowden from in this screenshot or the main post. The article you linked to doesn't appear to have any screenshots of google searches. And the original post appears to be about a defector, Schmidt.

They're talking about the list having a person's name censored. They tracked down which article was visited (pretty easy to do, since removing a name from a headline doesn't make the headline hard to search for).

I suspected it was Snowden. I mean, who else has there been for notable US defectors that got prominent news articles?

Well that clarifies how stupid this guy is to think you can defect to US strategic ally Pakistan. They'll happily let you in, pump you for information, and extradite you right back to the US though.

Well unless you're Bin Laden. Then they'll put you up in a cozy mansion and pretend they knew nothing.

Oh I wouldn't say they're the best allies to have, just that they wouldn't gain any juice by keeping a US national. They'll happily throw them away.

Putting aside what I think of him, he's clearly not that stupid as he's been outside of US hands for almost 10 years now.

He's was just arrested upon voluntarily flying back to the US...

Why do you think this story in the news? He flew to San Francisco and was promptly arrested just the other day: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-67036082

You were responding to this comment about Schmidt googling seeking asylum in Pakistan: https://kbin.social/m/funny@lemmy.world/t/519145/-/comment/2804303
