It's all fun and games until the IRS garnishes your wages for failure to pay taxes. It used to go after criminals, but those were too hard to nail down. Much more profitable to go after the average citizen instead.
Not actually that profitable - but a much lower entry cost. Budget cuts to the IRS championed by the GOP have declawed it - at least they used to actually nail the rich in addition to nailing the middle class.
Now, instead, they send me a letter informing me that I made a 43 cent mistake on my tax form, spending more in paper and postage than they get from the correction, while the ultra-wealthy enjoy a total lack of scrutiny.
Oh, I'm sure the ultra-rich got the same letter. Then they gathered their flock of lawyers and had them extort 400k out of the IRS for some failure of procedure bullshit.
It's a good thing Biden is funding them again so they actually can go after the ultrawealthy.

Look how scared Republicans are for their donors and friends.

The IRS overwhelmingly go after poor people as they don't have the means to defend themselves and end up settling out of desperation.
I'm sure after they get more money they'll totally change though lol
