I haven't seen a Pixar movie in forever, but if they don't...
I never noticed just how well they executed this effect! The beard just sorta fades into existence, but just before the hairs become fully visible they start lightening the irises of his eyes, so that your eyes aren't looking at the beard while it's materializing. Excellent misdirection.
It's reversed from the movie iirc
