Yeah I am in the NE. It was supposed to Thunderstorm but instead we still get the unrelenting heat/sun. I live up here for a reason people. I prefer the cool/cold weather because I can always add more clothes. This HEATDOME has hampered my central AC (I may have to replace the unit since a swift kick to the condenser was not effective). So here I am in my upstairs with a window AC.. and why is not cooler in here????? My husband just called me a wimp. I would volunteer to work a shift at my hospital if I didn't drink 2 glasses of wine after lunch. If I left now, I could get there in time for the evening shift.... but then... I would have to listen to people complaining about momentary discomfort (which is exactly what I am doing but then, I am not expecting anyone else to solve my problems).

Maybe don't drink wine when it's that hot, it makes you suffer a lot more. Don't wear a bra. Dress clothes soaked in water or something very large and flowy.

I admit that today is a bit bad where I am, I've poured water over the curtains and stuck my feet in a bucket of fresh water. I make sure windows in the shade remain open, windows in the sun are closed - shutters would be nice but my house doesn't have them, so I just close the curtains. I get up very early and rest during the hot hours. If your apartment is badly built and still gets too warm find a cool place outside to spend the hot hours - best is somewhere near water. See, the problem with ACs is they turn your place more cool while turning the planet even warmer. There are solutions, most require a bit of lifestyle change and planning - a lot of us here in Southern Europe have always handled this without AC so you miiight indeed be wimps over there in the US and A.

Sorry if that sounds judgemental, I admit it partly is. I also feel for you and I'm sorry so many have to suffer. I just wish the solution for this wasn't always 'Need more ACs'
