THE POLICE PROBLEM
The police problem is that police are policed by the police. Cops are accountable only to other cops, which is no accountability at all.
99.9999% of police brutality, corruption, and misconduct is never investigated, never punished, never makes the news, so it's not on this page.
When cops are caught breaking the law, they're investigated by other cops. Details are kept quiet, the officers' names are withheld from public knowledge, and what info is eventually released is only what police choose to release — often nothing at all.
When police are fired — which is all too rare — they leave with 'law enforcement experience' and can easily find work in another police department nearby. It's called "Wandering Cops."
When police testify under oath, they lie so frequently that cops themselves have a joking term for it: "testilying." Yet it's almost unheard of for police to be punished or prosecuted for perjury.
Cops can and do get away with lawlessness, because cops protect other cops. If they don't, they aren't cops for long.
The legal doctrine of "qualified immunity" renders police officers invulnerable to lawsuits for almost anything they do. In practice, getting past 'qualified immunity' is so unlikely, it makes headlines when it happens.
All this is a path to a police state.
In a free society, police must always be under serious and skeptical public oversight, with non-cops and non-cronies in charge, issuing genuine punishment when warranted.
Police who break the law must be prosecuted like anyone else, promptly fired if guilty, and barred from ever working in law-enforcement again.
That's the solution.

Our definition of ‘cops’ is broad, and includes prison guards, probation officers, shitty DAs and judges, etc — anyone who has the authority to fuck over people’s lives, with minimal or no oversight.

This is why I went from supporting gun control to not supporting it anymore. Cops should absolutely fear armed protesters in all countries.
Yup.
Been for strict gun control all my life. And, in a decent country, I still would be.
But this isn't a decent country. It's a country full of low-IQ fools and fascists and racists, so it's time to get armed and prepare for the worst, which appears to be where we're headed.
Guns will not stop a tank, fighter jet or nuclear armed submarine. Does the outdated second armament go far enough?
Afghanistan was even worse. People often think the Vietnamese were just the Vietcong but often forget that North Vietnam had an army and an air force. The North Vietnamese airforce had far more fighter aces than the US (with the top ace having shot down 9 US aircraft).
Afghanistan with the Taliban had next to nothing. Even when the US tightly controlled ammonium nitrate, which was the mainstay of IEDs they were able to switch to other stuff.
This is in addition to tons upon tons of explosives salvaged from UXOs dating as far back as the Soviet-Afghan war.
A true rebellion in the US would be actually be far deadlier. Americans are much richer than Afghanis ever were and have a fuckload more at their disposal. This is also not discounting that foreign elements who want to see the Trump regime toppled would be more than happy to send in tons of material to whatever opposing side exists, meaning they may not need to rely on shitty IED for long and would have proper factory made explosives and other weapons available.
Except in this case, half of the "farmers" support the regime.
This is a bit disengenuous though. Vietnam was a war on foreign soil. The vietcong did not have to win, they just had to male it politically and financially untenable for the US to carry on. Same with Afghanistan. It will never be politically or financially untenable for the fascists to keep suppressing the citizens.
Tanks can burn
Jets struggle against individual personnel
I don't really give a damn about nukes because it sounds like a fast death
You cannot occupy an area without exposed boots on the ground and those footsoldiers are absolutely susceptible to small arms
Stop giving up because it sounds hard
How do you fight the NSA though? Whne they tag you as a dissident, and the government freezes your assets and accounts. You are denied medical treatment and employment. Added to no fly lists, no travel lists etc etc. This is how the fascists maintain control, using the 'security' apparatus. This is what you have to contend with.
1 sniper can kill many, many enemy officers. This is a historical precedent.
You don't need heavy artillery to wage guerilla warfare and cripple an enemy's operational capabilities.
A bunch of farmers in Vietnam outlasted us using those tactics.
They didn’t just outlast us, they fucking slaughtered us.
You're not wrong. But with today's tech its more unlikely that one sniper is going to be as effective. With drones equipped with IR it's a lot harder to stay hidden. And in a more urban environment, there are cameras everywhere, and the police have access to everyone's ring doorbell camera, its getting a lot easier for them to track people down.
Im so sick of this argument. Tell me again how we were defeated in Afghanistan? The US military has a horrible track record when fighting against insurgents and guerrillas.
The US is Rome and we are Hannibal’s Army, as long as we don’t choke and refuse to sac Rome we absolutely have the an advantage in a lot of ways
Unlike Afghanistan and Vietnam, there is nowhere for them to leave US.
I'll let you know as soon as a nuclear armed submarine is rolling down my block
I kinda hope you live in D.C., just because it'd be kinda ironic this weekend...
"The enemy can not press a button... if you have disabled his hand ...Medic!"
So, the cops are the bugs in the scenario? The Mobile Infantry approves.
Will they stop pigs like this sheriff?
If we had our own nuclear sub? I'm sure that could help.
Leftist infighting prevents us from forming the peoples' nuclear navy.
I mean are you really asking me to build a nuclear powered submarine because I know a guy. I know more than a few guys.
