Chinese efforts to spy on the Dutch are intensifying, with the focus on semiconductors, Dutch Defence Minister Ruben Brekelmans said on Saturday.

"The semiconductor industry, which we are technologically leading, or technology advanced, of course, to get that intellectual property - that's interesting to China," Brekelmans said in an interview on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue security meeting in Singapore.

The Dutch military intelligence agency said in its annual report in April last year that Chinese spies have targeted the Dutch semiconductor, aerospace and maritime industries to try to strengthen China's armed forces.

When asked if the spying had stopped, Brekelmans said: "It's continuing. In our newest intelligence reports, our intelligence agency said that the biggest cyber threat is coming from China, and that we do see most cyber activity when it comes to us being as from China. That was the case last year, but that's still the case. So we only see this intensifying."

tell me about the chinese sponsored coup in taiwan

[–] psx_crab@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Ohh sorry, it wasn't sponsored, it's just sometime a political party of a country decided that it's a good idea to join up as a lesser state with a bigger country that bully them over and over and will never let other country or organisation to recognise them as their own country, just like there's group in Canada that totally didn't sponsored by foreign entities willing to push for being a lesser, 51st state.

Ohh sorry those countries and organisation isn't pressured by China to not recognise Taiwan as a country, they do it in their own free will.

Sorry about that, there's totally nothing wrong with China and China is very clean state with no abuse of human right, they totally didn't do nothing to Uyghurs and there's totally nothing happened in Tibet too. It's a good ~~emperor~~ government trying to spread their goodness across the world.

the us and every other first world country has recognized taiwan as part of china since at least the 70s. the literal reagan era. yet we have them sponsoring a pro western government in taiwan.

there isnt one chinese tragedy real or invented that is worse than what the us is doing today. problem here is not really china. the us has done what you claim to the entirety of latin america and never a peep about it. they are sponsoring an actually real genocide in the middle east as we speak.

Spying doesn't necessarly mean trying to do a coup

[–] umbrella@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

yeah but imperialism necessarily means couping other countries.

[–] rumimevlevi@lemmings.world 1 points 1 day ago

Not always even economical control is considered imperialsm. Thst's how the usa control Canada and many other countries
